In our interconnected world, a single post can spark significant collaborations. When Kirstie Wulf of Shelter Building Design posted on the Hemp Building Australia Forum expressing interest in creating a Hemp Building Directory, Jeremy Thomas of Environmentarian quickly responded. The idea of a Hemp Building Directory had been on Jeremy’s mind for some time, and he was eager to bring this important project to life.
With their combined connections, quick thinking, and diverse skills in life, design, and business, Kirstie and Jeremy rapidly turned the Hemp Building Directory concept into reality. Industry professionals, from designers to suppliers, builders, and consultants, have joined the directory, fostering a rich network of knowledge and connections to promote the construction of more hemp structures across Australia.
Our mission is straightforward: connect and inform people about hempcrete to encourage its use as a building material, leading to the construction of more hemp structures. Hemp sequesters significant amounts of carbon as it grows rapidly. Once harvested, processed, transported, and formed into walls, it locks away carbon while creating highly insulative structures that reduce the need for heating or cooling. Hemp can help us achieve our carbon-neutral goals in Australia and globally.
