About the Tasmanian Hemp Association

The Tasmanian Hemp Association supports Grower, Associate, Corporate and Supporter Members with ongoing educational and agronomic resources, while facilitating the networking and community events that keep Tasmania’s hemp industry connected and growing. The THA’s advocacy work targets the legislative changes needed to unlock hemp’s full potential as a renewable and sustainable source of food, fibre, fodder and extracts.

Guided by its Strategic Plan 2025–2028, the THA has set a clear pathway for Tasmania to lead the national hemp industry across five pillars: Advocacy, Market Development, Research and Innovation, Industry Capability, and Sustainability. The plan builds on Tasmania’s strong regulatory framework and the close collaboration already established between growers, processors, researchers and government.

Tasmania has grown the vast majority of all hemp planted in Australia since hemp food became legal, and the THA exists to protect and extend that leadership. By connecting key industry stakeholders, driving evidence-based policy, and championing high-quality hemp production across the supply chain, the association is positioning Tasmania as a trusted and competitive destination for long-term industry investment and growth.
