Hemp Building Directory Goals
At the Hemp Building Directory, everything we do is guided by a single principle: build better for people and planet. We exist to make it easier for builders, architects, homeowners, and the curious to access clear, credible information about hemp construction…and to connect with the people already doing it.
Why We’re Here
The building industry is a major contributor to global carbon emissions, resource extraction, and waste. Hemp-based materials offer a regenerative alternative: locking away carbon, improving indoor air quality, and reducing energy use in buildings. And thats just the start…
But this isn’t yet common knowledge. Hemp construction is still seen as niche, new, or risky — despite its long history and proven performance.
That’s where we come in.

Hemp Building Directory Goals
1. Make Hemp Building Accessible
We aim to be a practical, go-to resource for anyone interested in building with hemp. Whether you’re looking for suppliers, installers, designers, researchers, or case studies. We want you to find them here.
2. Shift the Narrative
We’re not shy about saying hemp. We believe reclaiming the word helps shift the perception. Through education, storytelling, and visibility, we’re helping people understand that hemp is not only safe and legal, it’s smart, sustainable, and future-ready.
3. Connect and Strengthen the Industry
The hemp building community in Australia, and now New Zealand is growing. But it’s still niche and a little still scattered. We want to help connect the dots: linking up professionals, innovators, advocates, and educators so the whole ecosystem thrives.
4. Support Informed Decision-Making
From first-timers to industry experts, everyone benefits from trustworthy information. Our goal is to surface facts, case studies, data, and real-world experience that helps decision-makers feel confident choosing hemp.
5. Advocate for Better Building
We believe building codes, funding, and industry practices need to catch up with what’s possible. Through collaboration with educators, researchers, and regulators, we support the systems change needed to mainstream hemp.
6. Leave a Legacy
This work is part of a bigger picture. We’re doing it not just for today’s builds — but for future generations, including our own kids. A better built environment starts with better choices, and hemp is one of them.
