Turning Hemp Into Homes | Birchal EOI

Andi Lucas is on a mission; Turning Hemp Into Homes.
The benefits are seemingly endless for those living in hempcrete homes and the industry has a tangible growth proposition a that could make a dent in climate change by sequestering carbon faster than any machine. Pretty amazing for a once maligned plant.

TASMANIAN STORIES

“I started hearing about hempcrete buildings, and looking into environmental building products and carbon sequestration. Hemp does so many things that are great, you almost can’t believe it.”

Building healthy homes, capturing carbon, elevating women

X-Hemp is at the forefront of Australian eco-friendly hemp-based building material production. We grow, harvest and process cannabis to build beautiful homes with hempcrete, and hold MOUs with US partners to explore producing HempWood® and HempWool®.

Female founded and operated, we are the only hemp fibre processing mill in Tasmania, and one of a very small handful operating in Australia, holding a strong first-mover advantage.

With ready-to-execute commercial contracts in hand, there are near-limitless opportunities for growth in this sector. We are perfectly positioned to take advantage of the strong demand for carbon-neutral building materials and other industrial products.

Hemp biocomposite building and industrial materials

We grow and harvest varieties of cannabis with no drug value, processing stalks to supply the hempcrete market. X-Hemp sells material that forms highly insulative solid walls in homes. In just two years, we tripled the number of homes built using hempcrete in Tassie, and are ready to expand with a range of retail products. This fast-growing crop sequesters carbon during its growth cycle, and by embodying that carbon into the walls of buildings, we provide natural materials to construct fire-and-flood resilient homes, tackling climate change from both sides of the construction supply chain.
