Vittoria Hemping Volunteer Experience – July & August 2025
Want hands-on experience building with hempcrete? Belubula Hemp Homes has a fantastic opportunity for those keen to learn by doing. Come and join James Isaacs and crew onsite in Vittoria (NSW, near Bathurst) to help build a hemp home alongside experienced trades. Volunteers are needed mostly on Week 2 starting Monday 28th July and Week 3 Starting Monday 4th August.
Why It Matters
By volunteering, you’re not just working with hemp…you’re helping to build a home that locks carbon away for decades. Hempcrete is a natural, breathable material with incredible insulation properties, keeping homes warm in winter and cool in summer without relying heavily on energy.
Every bucket you lift helps create a healthier, more sustainable building. And once you’ve seen it firsthand, you’ll be able to spread the word with confidence. Experiences like this are how real change happens: from the ground up, one wall at a time.
Lunch & morning tea: John and Belinda, the owners of the property will provide morning tea and lunch.

What You’ll Be Doing
This is a practical, boots-on-the-ground opportunity. Volunteers will help move and tamp hempcrete into wall formwork, no experience needed. Just a good attitude and sturdy boots! All PPE is provided and James who will deliver a safety and process induction on site.

HBD’s Role
The Hemp Building Directory (HBD) is supporting this volunteer opportunity by helping to spread the word and connect interested volunteers with James Isaacs and Belubula Hemp Homes.
We’re not running the build or managing volunteers directly, but we believe strongly in the power of hands-on learning to grow the hemp building movement.
By sharing opportunities like this, HBD aims to:
- Support builders who are opening up their sites to teach others
- Give newcomers a way in to the world of hemp construction
- Showcase real-world projects that demonstrate the value of building with hemp
