Image Criteria Best Practice

For images to display well on desktops and mobile devices and work well in search engines there are some properties they should have so they are optimised.

  • Your hero image should be landscape at ratio 16:9
  • Be around 300-1000KB – not more than 1 MB
  • Not be pixlated or high res – a fine balance
  • Saved with appropriate name
    • Your business name and what the image is of – EG (xyz installers_hempcrete block wall_hemp home.jpg)
    • Not – image098ytr.heic
  • Have appropriate file type extension:
    • .jpg is best for images
    • .png is best for graphics and logos

Examples of logos

Please consider the below when providing your logo:

  • Logos should be saved in .png format with the background removed. Use Photoea to do this.
  • Logos should be about 300×300 pixels. Square is better. Use Photoea to do this.
